Training course for Designated Person Ashore & Company Security Officer

DPA training course

DPA training is a mandatory requirement for employees appointed as Designated Person Ashore (DPA) working for companies that operate vessels over 500GT and/or SOLAS passenger ships, in accordance with ISM Code Appendix 3.2.2, Resolution A.1118(30), MSC-MEPC.7/Circ.8, and MSC-MEPC.7/Circ.6.

Rood Boven Groen’s DPA training is designed to provide practical experience and is structured like a workshop, using real-life examples to explain and practice the duties of a DPA. The training covers important topics such as risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and incident reporting. Participants will also learn about the role and responsibilities of a DPA, as well as the requirements for maintaining a Safety Management System (SMS). The training is designed to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively carry out their duties as a DPA. It is conducted by experienced professionals in the maritime industry, ensuring that the training is relevant and up-to-date. Upon completion of the training, participants will receive a certificate that is recognized by flag states and classification societies. This will demonstrate their competence as a DPA and their commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and security in the maritime industry.

CSO training course

The CSO training, also known as the Company Security Officer training, is a crucial requirement for employees who have been assigned as security officers for companies that manage vessels with a gross tonnage of over 500GT and/or SOLAS passenger ships. This training is in accordance with the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Chapter XI-2, which sets out the mandatory security measures for ships and port facilities. The purpose of the CSO training is to equip security officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively implement and maintain the company’s security plan, as well as to ensure security of the vessels, their crew, and passengers.

The CSO training provided by RBG is highly practical, drawing on 20 years of experience in ISPS matters both on board and on land.

After successful completion of this training, the CSO will be able to:

  • Maintain and supervise the implementation of a Ship Security Plan
  • Assess security risk, threat and vulnerability
  • Undertake regular audits onboard the vessels to ensure that appropriate security measures are implemented and maintained
  • Ensure that security equipment and systems, if any, are properly operated, tested and calibrated
  • Encourage security awareness and vigilance

The DPA training course is highly compatible with our CSO and/or SSO training. We often completely custom-build our courses to fulfill the needs of the customers and their operations.
