Online Training: Designated Security Duties (DSD)
We live in a modern age with countless possibilities. Where we used to write letters and visit the library to do research, we can now send emails and search the internet, around the clock. This convenience and improvement in accessibility can also be applied to how we learn.
Rood Boven Groen is pleased to add the Designated Security Duties for Seafarers to our list of online training courses.
Rood Boven Groen has been in collaboration with the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport since 2018; we created a new concept of learning and following STCW training courses. Our online courses have been developed using the IMO’s Modell courses as a reference. The knowledge and years of experience gained from Rood Boven Groen’s approved classroom training courses have been reinvested in the online modules. The latest insights in online training and current experiences at sea, are combined in this comprehensive online training course.
Some of our online training courses include a task book for use on board, allowing the participant to put the theory into practice, in a real life environment. The aim of these tasks is to strengthen knowledge and deepen understanding. This level of personal interaction and practical use on board is unsurpassed by any traditional classroom training course.
In light of the COVID-19 global pandemic, many seafarers and shipping companies are finding it helpful to fulfill their training needs online. Little did we know of the important role our online courses would play in meeting this demand, when we created them three years ago. Rood Boven Groen’s online, STCW approved training courses provide ultimate convenience as well as being affordable, and full of relevant information. These are training courses developed by seafarers, for seafarers.
Panama Seaman’s book and STCW Security Awareness
All seafarers employed or engaged on board a Panamanian Flagged seagoing vessel must be in possession of a Panama Seaman’s book. One of the requirements necessary for the application of a Panama Seamans book is security training.
The Security Awareness and Designated Security Duties course certificate can be attained completely online, through Rood Boven Groen. Our online STCW courses have been approved by the Dutch Shipping inspectorate and are accepted by the Panamanian Authorities. See this link for more information.
