NSI statements

Insights and policies regarding international regulations are made by the Dutch government through the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (IL&T, NSI) through ‘ItoS’, or Information to Shipping. All information is a result of the outcome as discussed in the so called Tripartite meetings, which are held three times per year, with representatives of the ship-owners, classification societies (in their role as Recognised (Security) Organisations – R(S)Os), policy department, representatives of shipyards and equipment suppliers and NSI.

The decisions and interpretations are categorized by Convention, where possible divided by chapter. In some cases, the interpretation is based on strict national legislation and cannot be addressed to one of the Conventions and will be placed under the header ‘national legislation’.
