Safety Equipment course for seagoing sailing vessels

The Enkhuizer Zeevaartschool in Enkhuizen has developed a new course for commercial seagoing sailing vessels. This course is a combination of Proficiency in Survival Craft (Safety Equipment) and training for crew sailing with passengers. Because Fire Fighting and First Aid have been added, the three-day course will also serve as a Basic Safety Refresher training.  The reason for launching this course is the fact that the Shipping Inspectorate expects crew members to have a safety equipment certificate. The European Maritime Safety Agency has noted that not everyone on Dutch sailing ships has certificates for passenger safety training. We assume that changing legislation will soon lead to these components being made mandatory. The aim is to start the first Safety Equipment Course for Sailing vessels in the fall.
